Tour of Washington County Time Trial
June 21, 2015
If you'd been having dinner near Hagerstown, Maryland on Saturday night, like me, you wouldn't have been surprised to show up for Sunday's time trial and find the officials huddled in Noah's Ark! What a downpour, and more was predicted. Fortunately, the cycling gods took pity on the stage riders and the roads were just a little damp and a cool breeze was blowing. This was a welcome relief after the "Africa Hot" road race the day before.
The para-cyclists were the first out of the chute and tried to dry out the roads for the others with some blistering rides. Hats off to Joe Jefferson and Randall Buxbaum, and all their AVC teammates (and a large contingent of the Mid-Atlantic's finest officials), for a superbly organized stage race -- and for hosting the para-cyclists for a 3rd year!
Also, a big thanks to our sponsors, Kalbaugh Pfund & Messersmith, Trump Winery and Promotional Considerations; and to our new race supporters Team Red-White-Blue, Shimano, Cateye, Origin8 and Panache Cyclewear.
Next stop in the series is the Tour of Hampton Roads Criterium, 18 July, featuring the Virginia Age-Graded and Para-Cycling Criterium Championships. The course is fast and the riding will be furious! Come on down MABRA-land!
